Very dangerous on the roads and no sign of any grit spread on roads - why do we pay our taxes again?

Most of the roads have been salted every night this week, as far as I can tell.

Grit on snow is not much use really not sure about tonight but the gritter was out last night.

They were out gritting (is there salt mix in it??) on Tipp road and Dublin road about 9pm, back roads are lethal, complete skating rinks. Wouldn't venture out in that again unless completely necessary.

    terrible in Caherdavin!
Anyone know the hill coming down towards the Community Centre? Well i'm thanking whoever is up there that there's the car park entrance/exit directly at the end of that hill! hit an ice patch at the top of the hill, gathered momentum and could literally do nothing as i glided to safety ha ha
    Sqweaky Bum time it was!

Snow in Annacotty as well - the road I live on is a skating rink.
Went to the shop earlier around 8pm, very very slowly in the car, went to turn into Vivo and the car lost all grip and skated past the entrance :(
The Vistakon roundabout was fairly icy at that time as well, as was the village of Annacotty.

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,

driving back to shannon from limerick city. literally did 20 miles an hour the whole way around 9am. Roads slushy and icy till i hit clare, then was alot better. Better salt in clare? Or just salt actually put down?

travelled in from ballina this morning. birdhill to limerick road was in pretty good shape. Then hit the city and slush and ice everywhere.

If you can read this, you're too close!

25 mins from Castleconnell to Castletroy.... roads around the tech park are pretty bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 453 ✭✭Lobsterlady

What's it like out there now? Wanted to do a bit of shopping, is traffic mad and roads still bad?

Snow all around Thomondgate, I never thought I'd see it again, I remember it once as a child my mother told me that was '93 when I was 3 years old.
I got a photo of the boardwalk today anyway, dunno if anyone's interested
