single parent payments or entitlements?

    hi im a single parent of an 12yr old child, his mom has married and im wondering if i can claim for him on my social welfare?
    ive just been approved for JSB and as my son spends his wkends with me here in my parents house, his grand parents, have i any entitlements or any claims?

    Hi lostwars

    it is unlikely you will receive an increase for a qualified child (IQC) as your son would not be considered to be living with you. One test around this is on children's allowance - usually it is necessary for you to be receiving the Child Benefit payment (children's allowance) to claim the IQC.
