Fumes smell In 05 Honda Accord Diesel

    Hey there!

    For the last few weeks I've been getting a strange fumes smell in the car regardless if I have the A/C on or off. Its weird as the fumes are only noticeably when I'm stopped like in traffic... just wonder any ideas what this could be.
    I've lifted the bonnet and there is a strong smell of fumes. I'm thinking of taken the black cover on the top of the engine off just to see if there is anything I can see

    As far as I know, there's a recall on the exhaust manifold, they seem to be cracking/splitting - you might want to get yourself down to a Honda dealer asap.

    EDIT: assuming you're on about exhaust fumes Mrcasio?

    Maybe worth checking around the injectors for black carbon...if theres carbon present then that injector is leaking compression past that injector.
    This is common on hdi's...Ron.

    I have a Similar Smell - Diesel on startup, in an 2005 2.2 Diesel. 76,000 miles. Where do I get Hard info on the €500 allowance/cover for this problem.

    I have asked this on another thread as I see this one is a year old.

    Hi did you get the fumes problem sorted? I have the same problem for a few months now and was wondering how you solved it? I have also been told when I got a service recently I need to get the injectors looked at as one is leaking-not sure if this is linked.
