Team Play in multiplayer

I'm completely new to first person shooter multiplayer games, so apologies if this MW2 question seems basic.

Anyway I've just started on MW2 multiplayer and have been focusing on the "Domination" game. My initial observation is that there isn't much team strategy employed in these games. It's mostly headless chickens running around getting as many kills as possible. I can understand this happening in a "Free for all" game, but don't see the point in a "Domination" game, where the aim is to rack up the points as a team.

Is this the same on other supposed team games in multiplayer, or is there a way to get involved in more strategic games, where people play as a team?

you can be lucky and land in a proper game of domination but more often than not youi will end up in a game full of muppets going for kills and not pl;aying the game proper.

No doubt some one will be along soon to whinge about the pc not having dedicated servers blah blah blah (getting a bit fukking tedious at this stage)

If you can join a clan and play in private matches

    What he said.

If you find a few decent players, don't be afraid to shoot them an invite to add to friendlist so you can easily sort decent games in the future.

Search And Destroy is probably your best bet for a more measured approach of gameplay

the only way you will get a more strategic game is if you get a couple of your friends to play. otherwise its exactly as you said, i dont even bother trying coz most the people you end up playin with are crap. the only possibility you have to win is ignore them and try get as many kills as possible. much better palyin with a ur friends

As said above, either play with a few mates or play S&D.

And with this you simply continue the problem...

I always try to help people by telling them if i see enimies coming or if i die i'll warn the others on my team, also i always throw my care packages out to other players on my team that might be hanging around outside.

I tend to stay in doors with claymores planted and just control a house/building!

i dont play a lot of objective games type anymore due to 99% of the time im the only one trying to capture the bloody thing
S&D is the only one where you have a good chance
    its best with friends though

Where do people get the idea that holding down one location is camping?

Camping to me is somebody that waits in a dark corner looking down his sight and killing people comming through the door!

I move through the buildings shooting people out windows scavaging ammo and trying not to be cannon fodder to the other teams chopper!

hoestly i dont see a problem with campers. i dont ever do it coz you will never get enough kills, get more roaming around. but if you get killed by a camper you know where he is and you go sneak up on him and get a free head shot from like 2" away. can be a pain when you are on a good kill streak thats about it

With Killcam, camping is harder, as said above I have no problem trying to control a building, generally I'll plant a claymore at one entrance and move around the rest of the building outside to get ammo etc. Staying in one place is just boring.
