Having read many of the posts on this topic there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer.

Sharewatch, Selftrade, Etrade and NIB seem to have been mentioned frequently.

Can anyone provide an up-to-date guide on this? For Irish and foreign shares by the way.

Thanks and apologies if this is duplication.

I did this research a good few months ago! In my opinion the award for best service, value and tools offered by a online stockbroker goes to www.tdwaterhouse.ie

Just got an email to say that I have an account open with TD.
Took 3 goes to get it opened, slightly torturous procedure but I'm happy out that the procedure is completed :)
    Let the trading begin :)

Have an account with ETRADE but I trade on the AIM and they don't support limits and stops. Etrade is cheaper but I can only buy in the FTSE.
My procedure took over 2 months...........................

Can't believe it takes so long to get verified. Can they not just process your scanned ID and B/A statement. I think 7 working days is fair enough.

Do TD's allow Stop losses? And are they guaranteed?

Finally got my TDW trading account up and running, had a few teething problems similar to above with paperwork and password, but found their phone helpdesk very helpfull.

What's the best way to send funds to the account.
I sent a BOI cheque to them to get started but it was returned stating they
were unable to process Euro cheques!
I have a laser card with Maestro on it, but their website says you can only use this if you live in the UK.
Do I have to go into the bank and fill in a bank transfer any time I want to
    fund the TDW account?
TDW looks great but they don't make it easy for Irish investors:(

On their Irish website they give details of wiring money if you don't have a visa debit card.

How can I make a payment if I do not have a VISA card?

You can also make a payment by bank transfer. Please use the following details to set up a bank transfer:
Account: 11774510 Sort Code: 985010 IBAN: IE31ULSB98501011774510 IBAN BIC: ULSBIE2D Payment Reference: Please ensure that the reference includes your client Trading account number with us at the start of the reference, followed by your own name (e.g. Reference: "0123456 Smith, John").

I am just setting up a beneficiary on banking 365 right now so I can transfer online.
