    Any one ever try them, are they any good, planning a few days in Lyon in feb, resort yet to be confirmed, and want something thats going to keep the weather out

    As only going to be on the slopes for a few days dont want to be paying over the odds for something i might not wear for another few years, unfortunatly only got rid of my last ski jacket in the last 12 months (didn't use it for a few years either), and no where near me offers rental on the clothing

    Have a good North Face jacket, but has no snow skirt and with my level of ability, that could be a problem, could be a lot of snow getting in

    One i did see did not seem to be particulary padded, but would be planning on wearing layers anyway, not sure if thats an issue when i was glancing of the specs outlining its materials boasting over what it keeps in and out

    Any tips on what i should be looking for greatly appreciated

    The snow skirt and other things that make a jacket out to be a "proper" skiing one are all just nice to have optional extras. Without a snow skirt, once you stand up and shake yourself off you'll be grand, mostly. Personally I'd go for a thinner jacket myself rather than a thick padded one, had a thicker jacket on for the season this year and hated it, definitely felt colder than when I wear my thinner one + layers.

    Once the jacket is basically waterproof, comes down below the waist and is not so bulky that it restricts your movement then it will do the job.
