Honda Accord

I notice in almost every thread about a large family car it is always mentioned. What is the big deal about them?

To me they were overpriced new, haven't got a very wide range of engines, are easily beaten by other cars for looks and interior quality and are hardly the last word in excitement, unless it is a Type R that is.

People say the Skoda Octavia is the most mentioned car on here, but I honestly think it runs a close second to the Honda.

The nice thing about the Accord for me is that even the entry level engines are reasonable, reliability is excellent, and it's a good all rounder. It's also a 2 fingers to the likes of the A4 and 3 series.
Looks wise it's the kind of design that will wear well. not gimmicky.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

There's probably no car in the class as reliable. For a lot of people here that is pretty much the only reason for buying a car, even when the Accord is relatively expensive here compared to the UK

I had an entry level 1.8 LS Auto, and the car was amazing to drive, very light and cornered like it was on rails, you could throw it around like a much smaller car, but despite the sporty focus it was a very comfortable cruiser, they were completely over engineered by honda.. everything worked all the time, sunroof, elec windows, Everything!! I was the 3rd owner on mine and it had well over 110k miles and felt like it could do millions more.. I'd love another one..

I have an 02 2.0 and with 125k on the clock the only part I have had to change on it was a lambda sensor and having owned a sucession of german metal I will sticking with Honda, boring yes but totally reliable.

I must have been the only accord owner out there who has actually had fun and enjoyed the car. I need to get out more!!

The diesel is particularly strong. As much as I abhor diesel engines the 2.2 sounds like a petrol, it's only the smell (and the lung cancer) that lets it down.

I had a 94 Accord has a company car years ago, it was the company bike for the new employees to use. It had well over 100k miles on it when I got it, suffered plenty of hard driving before me but it still drove perfectly and everything worked like it should, unlike my current car.

The are expensive here where Honda seem to be trying to pitch them closer with every new model against the 3 Series and A4 rather than the Avensis or Mondeo as they do in the UK.
