Heading to Morzine for a long weekend at the end of January and looking for a reasonably central B&B that doesn't cost a fortune - struggling to find anywhere or even a decent website that might help.

Can anyone recommend anywhere? Thanks for any help!

    From this website:

    http://skisnowboardeurope.com/avoriazetmorzine/lodging.html

"There is a great youth hostel in Morzine, equipped with 76 beds, car & cycle parking, luggage storage, credit card acceptance, a bar, and a pool. It is located just outside of the center of town and very close to the lifts. A reservation is strongly recomended during December, February and Easter."

Haven't been to Morzine but looks like I might be heading for a few days this Winter. Let me know if you find anywhere else!

Thanks for that info - had a dig around and word is that the Hostel closed, will keep looking and let you know what I find - everywhere seems to have a min stay of a week - no recession there yet!

Yes the absence of recession in French ski resorts is bothering. A mate was in Morzine last year and there certainly was a hostel there at that time...

    Hi,
Found somewhere in the end alright after much searching - made the mistake of booking flights to stay Fri, Sat & Sun - the Fri/Sat combo spans two skiing weeks so alot of places had no availability. Used www.morzine-avoriaz.com to contact loads (40+) of places - the only availabilty was in the following:
    - Hotel Le Petit Dru - e70 pp, breakfast extra
    - www.apexmorzine.com - e65 pp B&B - looks nice but on the the outskirts of town.
    - Hotel Bonne Valette - e70 pp, breakfast extra

I had booked Le Petit Dru when the Bonne Valette which is more central got back to me - couldn't find anything better value than the above - might have had better luck if we had been arriving early on Sat a.m. staying on a Sat/Sun/Mon - One hotel even suggested to me to stay in Geneva on the Friday and that they would arrange a transfer early on the Sat so we would still get on the mountain early!

Anyways, the morzine-avoriaz website has the most comprehensive listings, I sent off the one mail Bcc'ing everyone I wanted to contact.

    Good luck with your search!!

Any other updates on accommodation options in Morzine? There is a group of us planning a long weekend there, around Paddy's weekend. A hostel or cheap B&B would be ideal!

Also, what is Morzine like in general, in terms of food, après-ski, night-life, etc?

    Thanks in advance,
    edson.

Wouldn't head there for Paddy's day unless you're sure a few days before that the snow is going to be good, its quite low. If you've flights to Geneva you've choice of other resorts which would be higher, Val D'Isere / Tignes springs to mind (further away though), Chamonix closer but more fragmented and more aimed at the hardcore skier.

As per accomodation all I know is included in the thread I posted above, stayed in a nice informal Hotel, think it was called the Ridge, cheap and well run.

We're off to Morzine ourselves at the end of Jan (CAN'T WAIT!) But I was looking into accommodation for a friend, and I found this place at the time.
    http://www.hotel-lescotes.com/index_uk.php

It was quite resonable, and there was a pool etc. Seemed central enough and has a good review on Trip Advisor.

You should also consider Les Gets (http://en.lesgets.com/). It's a smaller, less well-known town than Morzine, but part of the same system. You might find it easier to find accommodation there.

I stayed in Hotel Le Chinfrey (http://www.tripadvisor.ie/Hotel_Review-g196708-d636275-Reviews-Hotel_Le_Chinfrey-Les_Gets_Haute_Savoie_Rhone_Alpes.html) a few years ago. It was small and quite old fashioned, but very clean and the food was good. It's a small bit from the centre of Les Gets, but is right at the bottom of one of the lifts into the system.
