Has anyone else notice that season 21 seems to be trying something different?

It seems to be focusing more on the family and their relationships wiith one another. The dialogue between them is alittle more character driven.
Also some of the jokes are alittle more risque. In the newest episode 'brother where bart thou?' there are jokes on the karma sutra and marge taking the pill...

I must say this new wave of the Simpson is actually really enjoyable! It is taking a new direction, instead of chasing the glory days of old.

Has anyone noticed this at all?

I noticed this too. I actually posted a thread here saying how it was very much like Futurama now, although that may have been a bad comparision. It is noce to see they are taking a new route.

i hadn't noticed, actually. no real crackers this season, but i've been enjoying it more than 2 seasons ago. there's a type of joke i hate about newer simpsons, they just list objects or dvd scene names etc. I think it's kinda lame. I enjoy the episodes but i don't think they're really that funny. I think it was last season where I got sick of Bart being 'bad', in Double Double, Boy in Trouble. It was so played out, like Homer forgetting dates of anniversaries and being a bad husband, it annoys me that they never progress!

Anyway this season has been enjoyable, but i don't really laugh out loud, which is kinda sad for me. Lisa seems a lot less objectionable this season too which is good.

I hope that they'd do something drastic, like bring in a team of writers to do a season-long storyline, like Arrested Development, or just have the episodes progress in a different way. Anyway i also hope that they reduce the number of THoH stories down to 2 per episode, 7 minutes isn't enough, i really miss the placeholders of the earlier seasons. 2 minutes make a huge difference!

Anyway there's some random thoughts from a die-hard simpsons fan
