    Hi,

Ive got a 3G 8GB iPhone, love it, no problems with it at all. I have about 1350 songs on the ipod and there were all stored on my old laptop which broke early last week, it wont even turn on. I got a new laptop this week, love it, no problems with it at all, and i downloaded iTunes and popped in my iPhone to be told that if i want to put new music on my iPhone (and I DO) i have to delete all my songs because my iPhone is synced with my old laptop.

Ive looked online and found that you can edit your .xml library file to make it think your new computer is your old one, but that means i need to get onto my old laptop to get the library file, and i cant do that as its broken and im waiting untill after Christmas for a caddy for the Hard Drive.

So is there no easier way of keeping all the current music on my iPhone, while adding the new music i get?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hmm... this is the only advice i can give...

    1. download sharepod and transfer all your music from your iphone to your new laptop.

    2. add all the transfered music to your itunes.

    3. sync again

havent really tried this so i cant give a proper feedback

Connect your iPhone and under the summary tab click 'manage music and videos manually'. You will them be able to put any new music on your iPhone (by dragging and dropping) without deleting music already there

I wish it was that simple The Big Gig but when i click that it says i have to replace my existing music library with my itunes library (which is empty) if i want it to sync.

can you take out the hard drive in the old laptop, stick it in a HDD enclosure, fire it up on the new laptop and then transfer the songs?

Just click cancel. Then you should be able to drag and drop.

I went with iKeith's advice, Sharepod is a great little program, took about an hour to take every song off my ipod HDD and put it in my music folder, then to put all the songs in iTunes, then syncing to my ipod.
