I am wondering where the best place would be to get the new Space Hulk board game in Dublin?
    Would it be cheaper online?

Also slightly off topic is where would I get the board game Carcassonne? Im suprised there isnt a board game forum to ask about this on.

Gamersworld on Jervis street sells Carcassone, and a shed-load of expansions for it.

They also sold Space-hulk, but that was a limited edition print-run, and they sold out FAST I doubt you can get that anywhere, except second hand, and apart from ebay I dunno where to point you really.

They "found" extra copies in the American warehouse and you have to order from the American gw site or pay through the nose on eBay. They should have made more like black reach, other bastards are making a profit from buying it up and selling on later.

Its cool I managed to get both space hulk and carcassonne in gamers world. I went in to get carcassonne and asked him about space hulk. He admitted he had a copy in the back that he was keeping for something or other and said he would sell it. So I bought it! Thanks guys!

I have a copy for sale if anyone's still looking for one. €100.

You can't sell stuff on adverts higher than cost, there are strict rules against profiteering.

Same for that other guy looking for €200.

Do you mean cost or RRP? The RRP is €90 but you don't know what it Cost me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 134 ✭✭Warmaster

That's a pretty good point. Since it's no longer on sale and is extremely popular the cost seems to have gone up a lot but thats just the way it is.

Show me where the RRP is €90. I paid roughly €70 odd for mine some several months after its release. Oh, and I'm both a moderator of this forum AND adverts.ie so you may be in for a very, very nasty shock.

Ignoring this post will also result in a very, very nasty shock.

Adverts.ie is not ebay. If someone wants to engage in auctioneering and generally fleecing people in unscrupulous fashion, they can "kindly" take it there and FOAD whilst they're at it.

Fair play to you if you got it for €70 odd but I paid 90ish in GW. They're out of print so can't find price on the website.

Also, you may be a Moderator but do you think this (as in your) tone is the right one to take with people? You're just being rude. I if I've broken a rule why not politey direct me to where the rule is, ask me to read it and edit my posts/ads accordingly? This is what's done on other Fora and it seems to work fine. It seems to me that it's better then threats etc.

That's without even dealing with FOAD - does that stand for what I think it does? If so you are a disgrace.

If it was €90-odd from GW then I stand corrected and I may be confusing the matter with sterling advertised prices in which case you shall have my apologies.

As for the rest, I think you'll find that the general moderator opinion on profiteering or attempting to run ebay-esque behaviour on adverts is similar to mine. I just happen to be rather blunt in my contempt of it.

That's absolutely fine but you don't know me from Adam. You don't know my age or gender or anything about me. Look at my post count.

Your post does neither yourself or boards/adverts any credit.

And I'm pretty sure its aggressive tone and vulgar language broke the posting guidelines.

Are you allowed sell antiques on Adverts.ie? Do you have to sell them at cost? (So a 1 penny stamp from 19th century has to sell for 1 penny ?). Or are you allowed to sell things for their current value? Im just curious how far they take the rule?

There should be a games convention, Leprecon, on in Dublin in early March (5th-7th or thereabouts in Trinity), you're pretty much assured that if there's someone selling Space Hulk for the RRP or below (common enough at those things for a little competition between trade stands), they'll have a stand there. If you don't want to wait you could always try one of the other cons in the other corners of the country.

Hi Sarky, are you in Cork? I always thought you were in Galway for some reason....

anyway just thought I'd say Leprecon is 12-14th this year

the above posts have an overly agressive "don't tread on me" feel to them with an underlying threat of imposing moderator powers if disagreement is had which I feel is both unnecessary and not very welcoming to a new member of the forum. I (particularly as someone who runs a gaming club and frequents boards.ie) would hope that new users that are wargamers are not put down by the moderator but more helped to find their feet.

I can count the number of times I moderate this forum in a given year on one hand and I am quite grateful for the fact that this forum for the most part is exceptionally well behaved. I am clearly power tripping ....

So, now here comes the moderator part. If you have an issue with a moderator decision (of which ironically none was made, and nothing posted that was any of your business), then you may take it to the feedback forum. Since you have not, and you have gotten yourself involved in somethign that did not concern you, have an infraction for your troubles since a ban would be overkill for this purpose. Clearly I'm power tripping. Again.

Warmaster, again, infraction for you since you have absolutely no business in what was ultimately a non-entity.

Secondly, profiteering is strongly discouraged on adverts.ie and something that I have dealt with for several years now in that regard. Thirdly, on an academic note (since nothing actually happened) in pointing out my dual-moderator status I was reminding bazzmundo that he would have received a ban not only on adverts.ie but in this forum as well for profiteering.

I take profiteering strongly as it as a flagrant attempt to rip off members of this community. If you wish to be ripped off by somebody I must admit that I am more hestitant to protect you (or anyone else) as a result of this.

Now, if ANYBODY else wishes to continue this particular conversation, please either PM me or take it to the feedback forum.

Thread back on topic now please. Thank you.

I have no issue with any moderator decision and hence I will not go to the feedback forum. What I do have an issue with is how you spoke rudely in this thread for no apparent reason. You said yourself that ironically no "moderator decision" was made and so I am not talking to you as a moderator, I am talking to you as a fellow member and so I dont appreciate how you are immediately rushing to mention your moderatorship powers in a thread which was perfectly civil before you started making rude, agressive posts. This thread *has* something to do with me. I have been reading and posting on it, and in my opinion it took a turn for the worst when you made a number of out of line posts.

Now, as I outlined above, you either take this to feedback or PM me. Since you have at this point decided to ignore moderator instruction, I am going to hand you a week's ban. Now, does anybody else not understand what I asked everybody to do? Either post on-topic, or direct your disagreements to me in private or on feedback. Or do not post at all.

I can actually count the number of bans I haev had to hand out on this forum in over three years (at least) on two, if not one hand. Tariqbutt now adds to over-zealous and clearly power-tripping behaviour.

Yeah. Found. Warhammer is about as popular as deep fried vermin in the US.
