    Hi,
i am thinking of hiring a new person in the new year but like every where else things are tight so some kind of incentive could help.

I would have somone currently unemployed lined up.

Does any one know of any government offers to assist a company taking somone on?

There are a couple of options.

Your local enterprise board may be able to help with an employment grant. I tried this route myself but was rejected as my business isn't unique.

Fás have a work placement programme aimed at helping people who have been unemployed for 6 months or more to get back into work. Fás continue to pay their unemployment benefit for 9 months at no cost to the employer. Have a look at the Fás website for details. I applied last week and was approved within days and now have a role advertised on the Fás website. The role I have is a marketing role and the view I'm taking is that if I can find someone suitable they will help my business grow and in the process create a job for themselves. That's my hope anyway.

Good luck anyway and great to hear of someone wanting to take someone on. I wish we heard more stories like this.

Forgive me for copying and pasting an old post, still seems to be relevent though...

Yes. Theres a scheme called Revenue Job Assist which is designed to encourage the long term unemployed to get back into work and employers to take them.

"Employers who employ people who qualify for Revenue Job Assist can make a double deduction of the employee's income from their company's taxable income for up to 3 years provided that the employee remains with them."

    Here's the link.
