One of those games I never bought as a young fellow, and one which I have been meaning to play for years. Due out on PSN on Tuesday! Shame it is in close proximity to December 25th (also known as NewGames Days, amongst other things) but a fine addition to the (often lacking) PS1 store. Now, where is FF8?

I heard Retr0 say that buying PAL conversions of PS1 games is a bad idea. He convinced me to buy FFVII from the US store anyways, something to do with some slowdown and black bars framing the screen on PAL releases? I would imagine Vagrant Story would be released on the US store soon. They got FFVIII yesterday.

Ignorance is bliss though! I never bought VS on PS1 either, it's something I've wanted to play (especially since it's set in Ivalice, the world of FFXII!).

Well retro is wrong I'm afraid:eek: When you boot up a PS1 game press select and find an option to make it full screen. I bought FF7 on EU store and am currently playing it on wide screen.

May have to play this just so I can tell Retr0 I hate it.

Retr0s' opinions are usually wrong,:p but I think you'll find this to be a very good game.

It might be in fullscreen guys but it won't be running at full speed.

As for the game it's a bit polarising. I loved it myself. The problem is that as a game it's a bit crap but everything else about it is fantastic. It's like Silent Hill 2, not a good game but one hell of an experience.

Also it has quite possibly the best soundtrack and intro ever.

What a strange criticism :pac: Although there are a few 'games' I'd say the same thing about (Dreamfall).

Also, just out of curiosity, can you use an Irish credit card on the US store?

Try it out and report back to us if it works:p I can wait for FF8 on my PSP.

I still have my PS1 copy of FF8 but disks 2,3 and 4 don't work on the PS3. Funnily enough disk 1 works fine.

I have my original copies of 7,8 and 9 but disc 1 of FF8 has been scratched (it can't get past the bit with the feather blowing in the wind during the opening cutscene!) which meant I have never got a proper second playthrough of it. I remember it being quite... different... but would love to play it again out of curiosity.

    My visa works.
Not all credit cards work though.

Anyone know if they plan to release FF IX on the PSN. Love that game. Probably my favorite Final Fantasy after X and XII.

heh, same problem here, disc1 of FF8 was scratched. Couldnt get past the dance scene about an hour into the game.

Will most likely pick up Vagrant Story once its released. Keep me busy over X-mas.

Still go the original VS and love playin it on the 60G original PS3.

Great game - bit slow at spots - but for the time it came out it was really groundbreaking.
Would recommend all to get it if you have a chance - you might just recognize some other characters when you play it. :)

I just bought it. I never played it on the PS1 but given the praise for it i thought i'd give it a go. Have'nt played it long enough so far but it seems good enough.

It's 5.99 on PSN for anyone who's considering buying it.

I'll be downloading this later, I'm quite excited to finally play it properly!

Picked it up along with Kula World (the demo of which I always enjoyed, so 2.99 was very tempting) so a nice bit of catching up to do over the next week or two :)
