Chipped Babies

My dog is chipped so that if we lose him we will be able to locate and find him. Why don't people do this to babies? Surely the babies are more important. Think how much hassle would be saved with all the children that have gone missing such as Madeline McCann if they were chipped.

sounds like a good idea but the bleeding heart civil liberties brigade will be out complaining that its an infringement on the rights of peados who want to snatch children without fear of being traced.

Don't dog microchips just have the owners details on it? It's not a mini GPS.

Nope, I named my dog after the best boxer on the planet.

I thought the chips in dogs are only for identification with a short range scanner. They're not like electronic tags on criminals.

I think you've got your technologies mixed up.

And I don't think anyone would want a radio transmitter implanted in them.
There's enough controversy over mobile phones without implanting one internally.

Eh, do we not stuff enough chips into our over chubby kiddies already??

Why don't they make babies like the dye packs in Cash in transit boxes.

If the baby gets robbed and not found in a certain time limit they just press the button and detonate the baby.

That way it wont be any use to anybody.

    I was going to say

Put it back on the shelf, and pick a non damaged one.

    BUT, as I'm here...

There'd be FAR too much tape to try and get through before that'd happen, too much "OOOOH, my rights, my rights" crap, even though the benefits would be numerous.

So, in conclusion, the book is short, and apparently, the dish and the spoon are having an affair, but this is not hinted at until the end.

Dogs are chipped because they tend to wander & get lost, mainly because their owners allow them to do so, or don't pay huge attention to where they are 24/7.

A child is a much bigger responsibility - the chances of most parents ever "losing" a kid is minute, unless you are in the habit of leaving your kids alone in an apartment while you p*ss off down to the pub, like the McCanns did.

It's better to play it safe even if the chances are small that you misplace your kid. It can't be a nice feeling losing your kid.

Well they pretty much shit and vomit all over people already which is similar enough to a dye pack.

If you are careless enough to "misplace" a kid, you really shoudn't be allowed the responsibilty of having children.

Personally, I'd prefer to chip the adults, and track their moments 24/7. That'll put a stop to crime including the kidnapping/assault of children.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,018 ✭✭✭Mike 1972

I take it everyone on this thread who supports this proposal has already volunteered to be chipped themselves

And why are white British photogenic middle class young girls
    such as Madeline McCann
any more interesting than the hundreds of other people who go missing every year ?

And why is it that no-one has ever pointed out to the parents that they were just a tad irresponsible, leaving their kid alone, while they went out on the p*ss?

Your not supposed to leave babies wandering around the garden or home alone so that they go missing.

I don't see why we shouldn't be able to play NTSC games on our babies if we want to.

And while we're at it, chip keys so we won't lose them all the time.

You can get this thing for your keychain that beeps when you whistle. Can't remember what it's called... Jesus that'd be an ideal bonus gift for my old man. But he doesn't lose shít because he's old and super organised...
You have presented me with a dilemma sir.

If it is easy to remove, and it is removed as you get older, then why not.

But would you want a locator chip in you for the rest of your life.

Not that easy to remove once incerted. Verichip uses a process called "Durabond" which will attach itself to surrounding flesh tissue within 24 hours to prevent the chip migrating and causing blood clots.

There is also the fear that if the chip was removed by armatures the glass casing could break up

Could you imagine if the authorities had these chips containing cyanide.

Don't see the problem, obvious solution is to permanently attach every child to a chipped cat or dog. That should take care of any civil liberties issues. Or if that proves too unwieldy, maybe graft a genetically engineered paw containg a chip onto said child.

But being aimed at kids I'd say it would be something cuter like puppies or kittens. :D
