Getting a replacement Driving Licence

I have lost my driving licence somewhere and need to get it replaced, however I do not live in Ireland at the moment, I will be in Ireland for Christmas and hope to get the replacement then, however doese anybody know how long it takes to get the replacement?? Also the licence was issued in Galway, I´m From Mayo but I´ll be in Dublin for most of christmas so where should I apply for it?

You can apply in Dublin - see http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/travel-and-recreation/motoring-1/driver-licensing/replacing_a_lost_or_stolen_irish_driving_licence
It can take a few days for it to arrive from the Motor Tax Office.
However, contact them tomorrow as they may well be closed over the Christmas period.

Had to get mine replaced a couple of weeks ago after it was stolen. It cost €10, and it arrived in the post within a week (possibly less, I'm not at home in general to collect my post!) But they told me in the office that, once I had in my possession their receipt for having paid for and ordered a new licence, it would cover me until I received the new one.
