Hi Mark. Whats this Irish fighter mag.

It's a publication consisting primarily of advertisements and photos of coloured-belt gradings from towns you've never heard of, with the occasional page of martial arts discussion.

    +1.

    But I still buy it!.

I love to see the photos and commentry from the various clubs grading around the country.

Even in style's I've never practiced I love to see people make some progression.

one THIng about that magazine is it shows how many different self styled organisations purport to be the governing bodies of their selected martial art theres about 3 or 4 for each discipline:confused:

I'd like to echo what Mairt says. While, either paradoxically, or contradictorily, I don't like other martial arts i still like to hear of people making progress and doing well for themselves, especially the kids. long live irish martial arts and irish fighter.

hahaha . if ya think its bad now . you should have seen it in the late 90's . hahahaha

well what i would say about it is that at least there is an effort being made . its nice that irish martial artists have some sort of mag to read and see whats going on in the irish martial arts scene.

To be fair you have to compare like with like. My family get swimming times for free every month (all insured swim teachers get a copy) and the two are comparable if you consider the following:
Swimming times has paying subscribers and gets funding from the ASTCI, so they obviously can survive with less adverts.
Both are for minority sports with a limited base (more-so irish fighter).

So with those things considered it stands up well, remember its a small market and even swimming times reverts to clubs results and features on swimmers/divers/sync swimmers and a few pages of ads.

Its also great for small clubs like mine to get a mention, or for martial artists to see themselves get mentioned in a magzine, because lets face it how many of us are ever going to make it onto those big brand magazines?
