I'm currently in 1st year of a course that i'm not overally happy with. Thinking of sticking out the rest of the year and applying for another course next year. So, if i finish the year of my current course and pass my exams, etc, do I lose the grant if i switch courses, and do I then have to pay fees? I've heard from someone that I do lose the grant but only for the 1st year of the new course then I can get it back, how true is this?
    Thanks!

If you switch course and do another "first" year then I would say you won't be eligible for a grant. Then from 2nd year onward you would be eligible for a grant.

Not too sure about fees. That probably depends on your college.

You should contact the SU education officer and ask about your particular situation before the christmas break.

If you drop out now, you may only be liable for partial fees and receive a partial grant for 1st year again in 2010/2011
