how much for new alternater?

    just went to move my 02 punto and their is no power steering. so went to the garage and they said it won't work if the alternater is gone

    if your anyway handy.. you could pick one up from a breakers for around €50.00 and replace it yourself...
    very easy to do.....

    don't want to go at it myself. would be afraid of putting back on the belt that it would go wrong.

    Most "broken" alternators don't need to be replaced, its usually a question of putting in new coals or changing the diode/regulator...much cheaper.
    Talk to your local car electrics place first before you buy new.

    That's bizarre.

    More than likely it's something wrong with the PS. Here's how to fix the servo motor.

    would the OP mean the alternator BELT ?? does it drive the p/s pump?, not familiar with the car

    Don't the Punto's have electric power steering ? (ie. no pumps or hydraulics)
