Wouldn't the block on Grafton street have melted by the time you have your estimate?

just smash the window and steal it.

There are a lot of variables involved that would effect the temperature and melting time. A shop window isn't exactly a controlled environment. Anything from the heating in the shop to the amount of sunlight hitting the window will have an effect. All you could do really is find out how long a block of ice of its size would take to melt given a certain environmental temperature, then take a guess for somewhere above or below that time.

    And I'm not telling.

The thing is, nobody knows what temp they will turn the heat upto, they also say someone will win it before christmas.

So factor in the fact they will want the winner to be able to buy gifts with it for christmas. So christmas eve, mid morning.

Whatever statistical advantage your cunning plan will have conferred has now to be balanced by the fact that you've broadcast the plan on boards. :pac:

just don't use the al gore approach to calculate ice melting time, it's got no basis in reality.
