Escape 2 gone

Hi all,

Just seen that the commission has finally updated their site to confirm that escape2 (donabate travel) are no longer.

Don't know how many more the industry here can take before something radical gets done.

there needs to be a total revamp of the regulations anyway thats obvious.
But after that I'm honestly not sure but if something doesnt happen soon the agents etc will be no longer I feel. They are all struggling.

Escape2 have been taken over by Club travel which is why the website is still live. Any bookings made before the company went bust will still have to be dealt with through the commission.
Club Travel have bought the brand (brochure, website etc) and will deal with all new bookings made.

Hi my wife and I were recently in Dubai on our honeymoon with Escape2 ( booked through a local travel agent ) when they went into liquidation . we got a call on the Friday night from the tour operator in ubai telling us there was a problem with our reservation which was Escape2 bas....s had never paid over our money to the hotel so they weere demanding us$3600 or get out . We made contact with our travel agent in Ireland who at first said pay the money and claim it back from the avaiation authority when we came home . We refused eventually Club Travel contacted us and agreed to pay the money eventually . Have we grounds to claim for the cost of our phone calls €2 per minute vodafone are charging us this went on for approx 2 hrs . It also caused us a lot of stress and strain and took the good out of at least 2 days of our holiday have we grounds to make a cllaim for this also . we are not happy where do we go from here . what date did they go into liquidation because we had this awful experience on 4-12-09 .

Well apparently they showed up on the morning of the 4th (my friend works for them) with P45's for the staff and basically told them to get out as the company had been liquidated. The poor staff were all there years and got no notice nor redundancy as they said they had no funds to pay this-the next week Andy (the director of Escape2) is running escape2 from club travel after chucking out the old staff and securing a handy little number for himself. Absolutely disgracful.

Jeez had been looking at their website a while back but tried calling them and the phone kept ringing out.............explains allot, that is disgraceful

Genuis 22, i couldnt agree with you more.
my friend also worked there and told me the exact same.
its unreal the way the customers have been treated not to mention the poor staff. bridgeman getting turfed out of their hotel in dubai and the staff being thrown out of their office with not a stitch to their name. no redun / notice / pay / just shocking behaviour from some selfish owners!!! tinking of themselves is what i think from what i have been told. and now escape2 and andy dolan is working with club travel????? convenient that aint it. something has to be done and surely can be from a staffs point of view and those customers who were also screwd over. i could go on and on. frustrating or what and if i was someone affected, i would be taking this well further and i hope someone does cause these people cant get away with what they have done.....................
