If you could travel back in time to one day of your life, what day would you choose and why?
You have the option of living your life over again from whatever point you choose, all with the knowledge of everything you know now.(bar winning lottery numbers.:P)
    Would you do it?
If so,what decisions would you make differently?
Are there any people you would now know to avoid etc.?

1986, got on the back of a truck at the traffic lights as I thought I was Marty Mc Fly.

    The 'Fly' part came true.

I'd redistribute my niceness & nastiness based on my current opinion of people.

What a boring time travel question. It doesn't even involve the whole "would it be gay to do sexy things with the other you" connundum .

Same here. As a teenager there were a few people I used to worry far too much about, and would still be polite to them even when they acted like complete bitches.
Now that I know how unimportant they were, and how everyone else has copped on to what complete and utter cows they are,and they've lost most friends they had back then,
I'd like to think that I would be far more assertive with them-and show them up publicly for the people they were.(Cos I know now that they are cowards, who never did anything when confronted)

I think I'd go back to the age of 12,and make the following changes.
Never start smoking, or drinking so young and participate more in sports and clubs in school.
Never hang around with some people, that turned out to be troublemakers and bad news.
Study way more, even though I did very well in exams could have done so much better if less lazy and not too laid back.

Most of these things can be fixed though.
Plan to quit smoking in the new year.
Have a very nice group of friends.
Anyone can start a hobby or sport at any age.
I'm less afraid of standing up for myself these days if someone is being threatning or very horrible.

Just wish I could have done all these things years ago.
Would have saved me alot of stress.
    But live and learn eh?:)

I would do the opposite of that.

    Good post. :)
People like that have parasitic personalities. They always fall on their a$$ around 19/20 when everyone around them copps on to them.

I'd go back and warn myself never to use time travel.

The results would most likely be paradoxical.

Travl lback to the months preceding my leaving cert and actually study. Or else back to my first day in 5th year and change my subjects. I think I'd like to have done medicine or something like that...

I'd go back and give my 14 year old self money for booze cos that english chick was totally up for it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,944 ✭✭✭✭4zn76tysfajdxp

    Why?

Because drinking and smoking are fun. Clubs and all that crap in school are not.

I'd go back to being fourteen and when the guy in question asked me to have sex with him in Stephen's Green, I'd say, "HELLS NO!!". 'Cause years later, I still hate the virginity question and people always do this face :

Then I'd wait 'til I was 19 or some other old age and do it in a bed with a lovely boy who studied Arts in Maynooth or something! There'd be no hilarity there.

Oh right,I get what you mean now.
Just think that 12 was abit too young for me to start that's all.
Never thought I'd get hooked on cigarettes, and here I am at 22 still puffing away-hope I manage to stop in new year, have tried many times before and failed.
The sports clubs always got days of school for events, and had great craic.
I think I would have liked that, but never bothered with it as none of my friends did.
I could be an expert basketball player now if I had!:)

(presuming that that's possible for my 4'11 height:o)

Due to the fact you've been smoking since you were 12.
You just got owned, Dynomite !!!.:P

I think I would've gone back to when I started secondary school and built on my trade-mark strangeness in primary school, rather than sinking into the mire of teenagerdom and keeping all my ideas quiet just to fit in.

Damn it,I should have believed that "smoking stunts your growth" myth story!
If only I hadn't smoked I could be as tall as my mum and sister,(about 5'1),
-a whole 2 inches of height wasted!!!!
Tis a pity there is no time travel sheepy, you could come to warn me of my destructive, height limiting ways..:)

I'd go back to the day before I went time travelling and tell myself not to get involved with this time travelling malarkey, as Weena won't be interested.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,922 ✭✭✭hooradiation

There is a person from my childhood that I would kill...

Yes, but if you went back and killed them, then you'd have no reason to go back and kill them when the time travel opportunity arose again (because they're either already dead or as far as you know, they just died and you had no hand in it) so then, because you don't go back and kill them, the past changes, they wouldn't be dead, so you'd HAVE to go back and *BAM*
    infinite loop.

    have fun!

But if you went back, and made all these alterations, you wouldn't have had the same experiences growing up, and you wouldn't turn out as you are today. So by making any changes in the past, you are drastically altering your current self, meaning you don't know how different life will be when you return to the future (present)!

Anyway, I can't talk - I'm currently here from the year 2065 to warn myself that no matter how many times I'm re-assured, buying an investment property won't turn me into a multi-millionaire property tycoon!
