    Hi there guys,

I'm looking to make some partial plates for weightlifting. I'm looking to make some .25kg and .5kg weight plates to fit a 2" bar. Professionally made ones cost a small fortune (roughly 50 quid excluding shipping for ~2kg of steel) and I like making my own stuff so I thought I'd give it a lash.

Does anybody know anywhere in Ireland (preferably greater Dublin/Leinster area) where I could get some big washers (2" inside diameter) that I could glue together? Accuracy isn't that important, e.g. if I get .6kg or .2kg I'm happy enough. I thought about getting a normal 1.25kg plate (smallest size normally available) and grinding it down maybe?

    Cheers!

sorry i dont know where to get the washers in dublin cuz im not from there, but you can get smaller plates than that, currently i go to my college's gym (its horrible, have to do most stuff on a smith machine) it has .5kg weights they are really small/thin im pretty sure actully they have .25kg as well but im deffo sure about the .5kg, that said what purpose would they serve you :P? if your trying to do squats/bench and want to move up a weight and say your doing a programme which is 5 reps 5 sets of benching, would use a weight i can for the 5 reps (Struggle on the 5th) and then keep doing it for a few weeks until i can get maybe 8 reps, and then move up a few kilos :O?

Try All Metal Fasteners (01 864 3080 ) or JJ Freeney (01 8845150) who are both based in Finglas. Just google them or look up the Yellow Pages.

Also, try Tooling and Engineering Distributors (www.ted.ie ) who are in Walkinstown.
