Myself and the GF are thinking of heading skiing over the christmas break. We want to head of on the 28th and back on the 2nd and with all the options out there its hard enough even start where to look into. Is there any place that do last minute deals. I've went sking last two years and ended up getting flights and accomodation seperatly and it worked out cheaper.

We are looking for someone with a short transfer, decent snow and cheap(ish) - dont ask for much :P

My first and only thought was fly Geneva head to Chamonix but can anyone recomend some other destinations to research or how to go about researching last minute deals

It's not the best week to get deals, New Year's Week is always high season in any resort.

Grenoble (Ryanair) has short transfers to Chamrousse which has nice skiing and is not too expensive. Close enough that you can go down to the city if you want. Villard de Lans might be good too. Samoens is only a little further away.

Chamonix will not be cheap that week.

La Clusaz is pretty close to Geneva. But there are buses from the airport to Val d'Isere, Tignes, Les Arcs etc.

Your best bet for accommodation will probably be the smaller hotels, but I suspect you'll spend a fair bit of time searching. Try the valley towns rather than the actual resorts and you might be a better deal, probably better night life too.
