Long weekend off as well. I am one of the lucky ones

For those in all Emergency Services who are working, I wish you a safe Christmas and may you enjoy as much time with your families as is possible.

Both myself and my wife (also a public servant) are working on Christmas night. I will leave the house at approx 17.00, my wife at approx 19.00. My wife will also have worked Christmas Eve night and will be working St Stephens' night also.

Granny is minding our young kids who all believe in Santa.

So Mr Lenihan, while you will be at home sipping your hot port with your family around you, my family will be going our seperate ways, spending most of Christmas apart. I might get a few minutes with my wife if I cover the ambo for a few hours.

You can shove your pay cut where the sun don't shine.

ps Happy Christmas to one and all.

Just wondering I don't work for the emergancy services but would you guys be busy christmas day? Is it extra busy, extra quiet or basically just a normal day. I have always wondered but never thought to ask.

Can be busy unfortunately with domestics where alcohol and children are involved. Not nice going into a house on Christmas Day with either the woman or husband beaten and the children crying.
