    Hi all

Just a quick post. I was in Tesco today (Lisduggen, Waterford) they have Tesco branded CR-R 100 Pack for €5. They sell the 50 pack for €7.99. Went to the checkout and they scanned at €11.99, told the girl they are €5 on the shelf, so she checked for herself and said oh I'll get the price changed to €5. I presume its available nationwide.

P.S. I know people dismiss the tesco branded blank media, but for that price even with say at worst 20% disc failure its still a good deal.

You should have got them for FREE.
AFAIK all Tesco's have a sign in customer service that says "if the price at the till is different to the sign of the shelf, you get that item for FREE".
Go back and see if they have changed the prices, if not buy them and then go and ask for the manager and you will get them for Free as per their T&C's.

Thanks. I will try that, but I think it only works when you have been charged the higher price. In my case she scanned the items at the higher price then void the items and rescan with the correct price???

If the item gets scanned at the higher price then dont say anything, pay at the till then go to the customer service, claim you have been charged higher than the shelf price stated and then get the item free.

They are truly awful, it isn't the value of the failures, but the time it wastes. I have a pack of Tesco ones at home, and I had so many failures I just went off an bought "normal" ones.

I have used a good few of those discs, only had 1 or 2 fail out out at least 40, so they aren't that bad. Anyone that is having lots of failures either needs a firmware update for the burner or a new burner itself i reckon.

I've never had a Tesco disc fail on me...CD or DVD...not sure what the problem is

^^ True. I have used at least 50 of those in last few month with only couple of them failing.

I also noticed that on a 700mb disc if I try to write anything around 685mb it works fine but when I go above 690mb then there's more chances of failure.

I tried two different burners, both relatively modern, and both the same results. They burn fine, but the problem becomes apparent when trying to insall an OS (ubuntu in my case). Invariably the checksum was wrong and the utility in ubuntu for checking the integrity of the disc showed between 1-14 errors. I had no probs with any other discs.

Maybe I got a bad batch.

What I meant was go get another lot and see if you are charged at the higher price at the till, if so say nothing to cashier and head straight to customer service with your receipt and Voila: Freebie Alert.
If not then say you bought the wrong ones and go get your money back.
