    Hi

I am planning to sit the

Sun certified network administrator for Solaris 10

    And

Sun Certified Security Administrator for Solaris 10

    In the next few months.

Could you recommend a good study guide or two?

    Thanks for the help

You know what you should do? - Send an e-mail to a lecturer called Mark Deagan at DIT Kevin Street. He's into all that sort of stuff. Just tell him that I passed his name onto you (I'll PM you my full name). He probably won't remember me though. Tell him that I'm doing a PhD in cancer research now!

I remember when I was looking at these, there was a single book that combined the two. I think there was one for the network admin exam, and a combined one for the pair. I haven't gotten to doing the systems admin one yet tho. I wonder will these qualifications still exist when the Oracle deal finally goes through?

I just did the two exams. Oracle was my motivation. I imagine Oracle will introduce something like the OCP exam were it is mandatory to sit a course aswell as passing. All about the €€€ !!

For Solaris Admin Pt 1 ...

I was asked what seemed like 20 questions on fssnap and ufsdump. Its essential to know everything about these two tools.

Also X86 was heavily examined. I found these tough as my experience with Solaris has always been on SPARC hardware.

For Solaris Admin Pt 2 ...

I was surprised I only got a few questions on RBAC. I expected more. Lots of questions on NIS.

    Good luck Tom.

    /Steve
