PC v XBOX - controls

I am used to playing FPS games on the PC with mouse and keyboard. Have started playing MW2 on the XBOX and am finding the dual analogue controls hard to get used to compared to the PC, anyone else find this? does it get easier with practice?

    X.

gets easier after a while but they will never match a k/m combo..as long as you're aware of that :D

lets not get into a debate of PC vs console.

it takes a little bit of getting used to. you can reconfigure some button layouts if ya wanted to. but gets a bit too easy after a while :D

How easy is it to get headshots in the console versions?
There is rather large hitbox in the PC version so I assume it was brought over from the consoles.

I think the keyboard and mouse are more accurate than the controller. But the controller more comfortable.
It does get easier with the controller over time but dont think it will be as good as the mouse.

not gonna touch this thread with a bargepole other then to say:

learning a new control scheme over another always has a "lead time" before you can be as effective as you are with the original

    - I would also recommend changing the title of the thread to avoid the wrath of the "HURR DURR keyboard vs controller" thread from earlier this year.

Ya the console v PC debate has been done to death
    PC FTW
. I was just asking if the hit-boxes are any bigger?

Is there no way at all to connect a keyboard and a mouse to the 360? Surely if there is no official support someone from the modding community must have done this by now ?

Mouse/keyboard vs Joypad.mmmmm,I think its a learnt skill.Being playing FPS on PC for years so im more used to mouse but my son is dead handy with the joypad and is kak with the keyboard.

Also I think its a bit of fanboi-ism by pc gamers that the mouse is better than the joypad.Only really getting used to a joypad for CoD WaW and MW2 now.

Until someone comes up with an interface so that games can be played together between xbox/ps and Pc its all subjective waffle:p

No idea what its like. Wouldn't use it myself (online at least), it'd be like cheating!

    my mate used it.

thing is, there latency from input from a contoller to output on the screen. its been proven. the adaptor there still has that latency, you can notice it when switch from PC to console. but still, its kinda cheating anyway :pac:

    EDIT: Proof here btw http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-lag-factor-article

    No one is.

K+M will be allways supperior to controller. It just so much more stuff you can do, its more accurate and list goes on and on...

I had cod: MW1 for ps3 first, after playing it 4 months, i just went and got pc version, a whole new game opened to me. ( not the dedicated server part)

Having read the lag link above it seems to me that the xbox is being hindered by the fact that its not open to other people to develop hardware for it.The pc can have everything from motherboard with mental bus speeds to high end NIC cards where as the xbox has no ability to be over clocked or any of itsd hardware changed to over come the lag.(which is being measured in thousands of a second in fairness)Christ even the tv can affect the lag!

EDIT:still like MW2 on me xbox...dont think my graffics cards are up to playing it

Just to point out the advantage the console(dual stick controls) have over the mouse keyboard.
With the console control you have full 360 degree movement + an aim where as you only have 8 way movement + aim with mouse keyboard.
Until someone comes up with an interface so that games can be played together between xbox/ps and Pc its all subjective waffle
Technically if someone uses a console type control on a PC versus someone using the mouse/keyboard this will show the difference

By the way. I grew up playing consoles, prefer FPS on PC but more casual(slower pace) games on the 360

EDIT:Just realized how old this thread was

For me, definally the keyboard and mouse. Had MW2 for the xbox and didnt enjoy it one bit.

Outta curiosity tho, my keyboard broke a while ago and I had the xbox controller for the pc, but couldnt use it for MW2 (pc). I was pretty pissed off to say the least.

K+M is far better for fps's than consoles, that is fact.

As for your question, for the xbox, i dont think so, besides that silly box thing that you plug your mouse and keyboard into (apparently its ****). Theres a company called "Splitfish" that make controllers for the PS3 tho, uses a mouse and numchuck, apparently they're decent but obviously never gonna be as accurate as a PC mouse and keyboard. Its a shame that sony and microsoft dont have more support for the keyboard and mouse, they could just have 2 seperate lobbies, one for mouse users and one for gamepad users, like they did with UT3 on ps3.

Would probably get alot of PC users switching to consoles.

Close this thread already, seriously. I've had it up to here with all the so called 'debate' on PC vs Console controls. Just accept that there is two people in this world; people who accept playing FPS on a console, and smart people.

Why even click on the thread ? You dont have to come back to it ? Thats what these forums are for, to talk/debate about things related to cod. No1 asked you to post.

because i posted on this months ago and couldnt believe people were still talking about it. Is that a crime?

Sorry that was my fault. I accidentally bumped it without looking at the last post date as I was looking into the keyboard/mouse solutions for the 360

No, but i hate when people shout "OMG CLOSE THREAD ALREADY", as if they're forced to read it or post on it.

If its not abusive and on topic with the forum then whats the harm ? Theres nothing wrong with a debate, thats what forums are for.

Wow no love for the joypad.

I had COD4 on my laptop and I actually prefer playing on the PS3. I have COD4 and MW2 on the PS now. Does no-one else find it easier to move around with the pad?

M/k was probably removed from the ps3 / Xbox because of the advantage it provides.

Any one who thinks a joypad is better than a mouse / keyboard combination for an FPS game should be classed as a casual gamer.
