I saw this from Mymemory.co.uk. £20.99 for a solar powered bluetooth car kit. Deal looks good to me, I've bought off this company before without any problems.

Funnily enough.. was gonna buy this off them at the weekend.

But don't know it'll work with my iPhone considering the iPhone is fussy enough about Bluetooth devices.

Don't MyMemory ship from Jersey or Guersney though? Something at my back of my mind says they do.

The back of my mind says you're an asshat! :pac:

Nah.. as they ship from Jersey, it works out at €25 so just enough over the €22 limit to get a customs charge and €5 administration fee from An Post. Might wait til after Christmas.

Just ordered as well. I read a review before hand that said it works with the iPhone.

Forgot the whole customs bit. What happens with An Post? Do they send you the item or a bill first?

Bill first.. you'll get a letter off them asking you to send the invoice to an e-mail address or fax them.

Then they'll let you know how much you owe, and you then you pay the amount to the postman when he arrives with it.

A couple of questions for anyone that might already own one of these...

how well these work over here? We're not exactly basking in the life giving rays after all. Also how well can you conceal this in your car and still have it charging away?.... last thing I'd want is some behooded c**t breaking my car window thinking this is an I-phone or something.

Think I read somewhere that you can slip it out of it's cradle / mount quite easily and put it in your glove compartment.

I'd be extremely surprised if customs stopped you for this, its to low over the limit to be worth their while (dont come lynching me if they do though!)

Ordered this over Christmas when MyMemory had a 10% discount code available.

Arrived today.. and it's great actually. Sound quality is superb (nice and loud), has voice dialling (if your phone supports it) and it's real nifty looking device.

Oh, and it worked fine with my iPhone.

    Cheers OP.

I know it's an old post by now but something for future reference (might be helpful)

While "goods of negligible value" (no VAT) is set at the 22 euro level on revenue.ie it also states that VAT will not be charged on goods where the resulting VAT intake would be less than 6 euro.

Multiplying out - it turns out that any good under 27 euro will not be subject to a VAT charge (21% of 27 euro is less than 6 euro).

Which raises the question, why isn't the "goods of negligible value" rate set at 27 euro in the first place? 5 euro difference is quite a big difference on these low cost goods ;)
