Looking to book a ticket from Heuston to Cork and they are supposedly doing one way promos for 10euro....

However going through the whole booking process there's no option of buying a ticket at that price and instead am greeted with only other normal, fares.

What way does this web offer work? Do they just honor the fact you bought it online when you get there and charge you 10?

Try ringing the helpline at Ryanair, they always have their prices as advertised so i reckon they could help you!

It says "selected trains only". I just ran a search for ticket prices tomorrow, and it tells me that the trains at 11am and 2pm are the only ones departing at 10€. Everything else is either 20€ or 36€.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

No, you have to find a train with this fare still available.
For example the 12th January, 11am train Dub to Cork is available for €10.

What you will probably find is that there will be fewer, if any such fares a) at weekends b) at peak times c) during the holidays etc.

So no, not false advertising as such.
    HTH.

Only certain trains have the €10 fare. You have to find that train in the timetable then select that train during your bookong process. It comes up as €10 then. Its all very easy really..........i book them for belfast all the time

    What?

Yeah it's selected trains only. Only a good offer if you're very flexible about when you travel. Wouldn't surprise me to see the available trains for this fare disappear completely over the next week as the demand for seats rises.

Got the half 8 train last night for a tenner... And I doubt it's false advertising because they probably advertise it as being selected trains only.

About a year ago I looked into the laws regarding false advertisement.

My mother had ordered a 17 inch monitor from Dell online, but got a 15 inch monitor instead. Dell decided to measure the diagonal width of the entire monitor and not just the diagonal viewable area (so the border area around the screen was included in their measurements)

After a lot of investigation, and complaints I found that Irish law regarding advertising only applies to printed advertisements. Online adverts are not yet covered.

Dell, and many other companies regularly advertise 'special offers' on their products but don't always deliver what you expected. Always read the small print, and get a written product description from the company before making any expensive purchases.

That fare only applies to goods trains.

I'd be fairly sure it said 15.1" viewable area somewhere in the ad

But having said that stating the external measurements of the TUBE has been industry standard practice for TV's and CRT's since day 1.

    2.5" , 3.5" disks and 19 inch racks - guess what ???

    First thing I checked....

They were just playing off people's ignorance of how to measure the screen size. Many people don't even know what 15 or 17 inches is.

This is the old list, before the new timetable was introduced. Its a hint, but not guaranteed: http://www.irishrail.ie/news_centre/news.asp?action=view&news_id=402 A station specific list is available here: http://www.irishrail.ie/your_ticket/fares_enquiries.asp

For a given time, not every day of the week has the special fares. The (theoretical) list of trains with low fares is also something that is evolving.

The advice I have is "We no longer publish a list of [cheap] trains as it keeps changing. The € [symbol] by the service is the easiest way." - see image.
