    hi,

Kinda random question here, I`m on Jobseekers Benifit but not getting the full amount. I recently turned 25 and I`m living at home with my parents who are both retired.
Its been suggested to me that I should switch from JB to JSA. Does anyone know how one goes about this and if it actually would be worth it or will they deduct a load off cause I`m still living at home?

    Cheers:)

As the Jobseekers Benefit payments are now graduated according to earnings in the relevant tax year, you can come out with less than you would on Jobseekers Allowance and can gain by switching. You should go to the Social Welfare Office and ask to switch.. Bring bank account details for last 6 months etc., with you as they will need evidence of any income and level of savings. Your Jobseekers Allowance will be backdated to the date you asked to switch but I guess you may have to be prepared to go without payments while you are being means tested - check that out carefully. Although you are living at home, your parents' means will not be taken into account because you are now 25.
