Which would be a better caliber for a r700 .got a choice of .270 or .308
Ill be using it for deer hunting at short to medium range 150-200 yards
There is a Bushnell Trophy 3x9x50 on the .308 ,is it a good scope

A good calibre and a good rifle. I had a Bushnell Banner scope once and it was OK.

Go for the 308, The short action is a bit easier to handle. More aftermarket bits available. Great selection of ammo and much longer barrel life than a 270.
