Ur Not Going To Do Much Sitting There is going to be my motto for the next year while i get into this running lark.

I havent ran in 2 years, i did the 10k bupa run in 2007 whislt i was 14 stone with no training just a bit of football twice a week in a time of 61 mins a time i was happy with at the time. so i want to do the bupa run in a time of sub 50 mins if i can. altough i am 15 stone 10 i think with training and eating healthy i can do that time and lose some weight.

I am goin to start tomorrow in the gym ease my way back into it. I am aiming to something like the couch to 5 k then http://www.halhigdon.com/10ktraining/10knovice.htm Then i hope to do the warriors run in august. Thats the plan anyway at the min.

Good luck with it, and welcome to the logs :)

If you're planning on doing the Great Ireland Run in April, it might be worth doing the MSB St Patrick's festival 5k in March, a good race and it will give you a decent indicator of how you're set for the 10k.

Yeah thanks for that I'll probably will do this.

    Today
I had my first gym session today and survived. I intended to do 60 secs run recover 90 to that 6 times i was trying to follow the couch to 5k training plan but instead i did 2 mins running 100 secs recovery on a 0.5% grad at speed 8 i did this for 21 mins. the reason for the 2 mins was that i didnt look down sooner simple as that. i enjoyed it though its going to be a tough year

Christmas is over time to hit the gym for the next 7 weeks then it will be out onto the road for the 10k training, i have decided to incorporate cycling into my plan to help me train because hopefully this will reduce the risk of getting injurys and also i have heard that cycling helps with running, i'm guessing its with the cardio aspect of it.

Well it didnt go the way i wanted it to, i was meant to start in 1 jan but became awful busy (poor excuse i know) but got to the gym today.I did warmup and stretchs then i did 40 min on the treadmill doing 6 mins at 8.7 km/h and then resting for 2 mins at 3.0 km/h i did five of these and it was just over the 40 mins mark. Then i went on to the crossramp for 20 mins then cooldown, stretched and went home.

On monday i started the 100 push up challange day one and have been sore since workin muscles that dont get much use will do that ta ya. i will start day one tommorrow again and hopefully it wont be as sore afterwards

Great to see that you went back to the gym. Best of luck with it all. I would love to do a sub 50 min 10k. Will be keeping an eye on your progress:)
