We are installing a composting heater. It will heat the water in the hot water cylinder and the radiators. We are having difficulty finding a plumber and an electrician that will take on this job. Anyone have any suggestions where we might find a trades person that can work on something a bit different? I think as it is different they are not prepared to do the job. Any help would be much appreciated.

No ideas but it sounds like an interesting plan.

How large does the compost "heap" have to be to heat a usable amount of water?

    Hi Meltdown,
I discussed a similar project with Sulaco Services in Bray. They were using horse manure as the source of heat.. Could be worth contacting.

Do you have the M & E drawings for your system? And, if so, surely any competent tradesman can install the components per the drawings?
