just saw a few threads there saying they got the yellow light of death and so on from ps3's that are about 2 years old etc.

is each console different ? I know some are different models with different specs etc.

is there anyway to prevent this light of death ?

    suggestions etc ?

Don't kick your ps3 and you'll be fine.

my ps3 suffered this 2 days ago. It is out of warranty and is 40gb model. Any ideas if it can be replaced or do i pay some IT head to fix it?

    Cheers

or take it to consolerepairs.ie and if it's CPU and GPU related problem they'll charge you about 40€ and provide with one month warranty - but it's just temporary solution , eventually you'll have to buy a new one or get refurbished from Sony .

They were honest enough to tell me there's little point in a repair - it won't last.
