    Hi,

Am sure this question has been done to death previously but I just found out my ex has a new girfriend. We have only been broken up over a month. I broke up with him but am miffed that he has replaced me so quickly. Is it true that guys can get over breakups much quicker? Does that mean that he was never really into me? Would appreciate male perspective particularly but all replies welcome.
    Thanks and happy xmas.

Hey, I'm really sorry to hear and I can really empathise with what your going through. I don't think its a male/female thing though. Me and my ex split up 2 months ago after 6 years, and within one week she was sexually active with another guy, and is now seeing him. Broke my heart, and I do struggle to cope with it but you just need to shove it to the back of your mind, and forget about him. The more you think the harder it'll be on you. Easier said then done but it is for the best if you can manage it.
As a guy, I don't know how someone could be back "in the game" so fast. I've barely even spoken to a girl since, nevermind contemplated a relationship or even a one night stand. That's just not my character.

"Moving on" is currently part of our zeitgeist. We all have to get over it. IMO its just a contemporary twist on sweeping it under the carpet that they did in the 50s.

Dont take it personally, chances are this new fling is the broom.

I know two girls who were seeing guys and then it ended. The first girl had been seeing a guy for about 2 years and then they finished and I think within a month she was seeing someone else. The other girl had actually been living with a guy and I think she was seeing someone else within 6 weeks of it ending.

I was sort of surprised at them both starting to see someone else so quickly as the first thing I'd thought was that they weren't as cut up about the relationships being over as they let on. But maybe it had been coming for a while so the feelings were gone by the time it ended, who knows.

From what I seem to read on here though, it's usually the girls who tend to move on the quickest, usually within a month.

Don't think its really based on gender, more on personality. Some people just really can't handle being single.
If it helps, it's probably just a rebound fling, no one is completly over someone after a month, he's more than likely just trying to fill the gap.
Anyway, don't you be worrying about him, concentrate on yourself, shouldn't matter what he's doing anymore.

  • My ex was with his new girlfriend 5 days after we broke up. It wasn't even him that ended it. Some people are just incapable of being alone.

dont think its a gender thing either, its a personality thing. after my break up i couldnt even think of getting close to another woman, just had no interest. maybe others think that getting back out there is the best cure....i find that a bit insulting(maybe the wrong word here), but once a relationship is over, then its nothing to do with you anymore. try and be positive, and forget, because thinking about it, doesnt help im afraid.
