Does anyone know if I am able to claim my VRT as relocation expense (I have recently moved to Ireland)? Many thanks in advance.

If you are relocating to Ireland, then you may not need to pay VRT, once you fulfill the following criteria regarding transfer of residency: http://www.vrt.ie/vrtDetail.php?page=21

Re expense, I assume you mean can you claim VRT against tax?.... don't think so.
