Whats the deal with the people clamping cars, where are we allowed and not allowed to park? There are loads of cars parked on a double yellow line ass you enter the main entrance of the north campus, but only a handful are clamped. Does the college intend to build another car park any time soon? Parking is a disgrace in the college

They sent an email around there a while ago about where you and where not you're allowed to park.

Not within 15 metres of a ramp or 10m of a junction I think. Check your email.

Any else notice that now they're letting people park along the road side on campus people aren't actually using the carparks any more? I parked today and the carpark was a quarter empty but there were cars nose to tail all along the road.

Definite no go areas are the entrances and any pedestrian crossings. I haven't seen people on other double yellows clamped yet. The email also mentioned disability spaces and emergency accesses.

Some people don't seem to be bothering actually trying to find a parking spot anymore. I usually get in at about 10.30 - 11 and there are still spaces at the sports field car park but there are cars all along the road.

Apparently the ring road will be made one way sometime next year and there will actually be designated parking bays along one side of it.

    Here's the email:
Since September 09 we have seen an unprecedented increase in the number
of cars coming on campus. The situation has been exasperated by the
restricted access to St. Mary's on the South campus and the remedial
action taken as a result of the warning we received from the Gardai
about parking on the Kilcock Road, which I will deal with later. We are
endeavouring to accommodate as many cars as possible on campus while
also bearing in mind the health and safety of users and maintaining the
grounds of the campus. However in recent weeks some car owners using the
campus have shown a complete disregard for other campus users, access
for the emergency services, disability access, signage and grass
margins. While it is not our intention to clamp cars for the sake of
clamping, we have no choice but to enforce it where users park
    indiscriminately as outlined above.

With effect from the 14th December cars will be clamped if they are:
    1. Parked within 15 metres of junctions,
    2. Parked on or within 15 metres of pedestrian crossings,
    3. Blocking access for the emergency services,
    4. Blocking disibility access

In relation to parking on the Kilcock Road, the Gardai have warned us
that they will prosecute car users parking on the main road. They are
very concerned about accidents occurring on this stretch of road. In
particular they have raised particular concern about parking within 15
metres of the Library entrance, within 15 metres of the main entrance to
the North Campus and those parking directly opposite to the main
entrance of the North Campus where the hard shoulder narrows.

In order to avoid the cost and inconvenience of clamping and a traffic
prosecution I ask you to pay special attention to this notice.

College students in lazy idiots shocker!

    <_<

Anyway, I saw two cars clamped at the footbridge the other day. I suppose whoever clamps cars only have so many clamps, so can't clamp every car. Gotta get the serious ones first. But a lot of it does come down to laziness and not wanting to walk further than they have to.

What happened to thos annoying stickers they used to stick on cars. The ones that said "This is a No Parking Area" and that were impossible to get off? Those were awesome, seeing people trying to deal with them <_<

Seen loads clamped today, also saw them take the clamp off one car, and put it on the car parked in front of it... Oh how I laughed.
