been playing with fruity loops for a good few weeks now and havfe decided to buy a keyboard for it. a 25 key should fit my needs fairly well but theres a lot out there to chose from, I dont wanna spend more than 100. I was looking at an M audio oxygen 25 for 99 , has a good few midi assignable knobs and pitch and modulation controls, theres also a keystudio 25 which offers the same features but a not as good looking build quality for 59. theres also the m audio midair for 99 offering similaar features but has a midi out for 99. theres also the thought of spending 50 euro on somthing like a miditech 25 but id say i would outgrow it fast with the lack of midi assignable knobs,

so far top choice for me is getting an oxygen 25 and when i want to add other things getting a standalone midi controller since they are cheap enough these days.

I was looking for your opinions and thoughts on which keyboard i should get.
    thanks

The oxygen should be up to the task. I bought a keystation25 a few years ago for travelling/recording/performing and it's been all over the world in suitcases, backpacks, gig bags and still works like new.

At the same time, unless you want something mobile you might find a better long term solution would be to go for something larger especially as you start to use it for more than just assignable knobs and stuff.

How important is action/velocity response to you?

If it's not important, then you can buy the Oxygen without much thinking. Or you might look for ads on adverts.ie too, people are getting rid of these from time to time.

If it is important, you should probably try it before buying, as it's most often sacrificed in the entry-level keyboards. If you try it and it doesn't fit the bill, you may try E-MU XBoard 25 too, they have 16 assignable knobs, aftertouch and MIDI out. Most parameters can be set from keyboard itself, which may be nice in some situations. It's more expensive though, and the extra features might not be worth the price for you. I bought one second hand, and I'm relatively happy with it, but of course the fact that it's just 2 octaves is a blessing and a curse.

Tell ya what, I was on thomann and found this little 25 key m-audio one with the mid air wireless midi kit included for 99, bought it as I thought it would be rude not to....

havent plugged it in yet but looks cool enough...

So i was tlaking to my brother about this and he decided to give me a roland juno d to mess around with(and a midiman 2x2) all good exept 3of the keys on it dont work and the sensitivity is hit and miss, i reckon if i could make a patch on the keyboard which disables sensitivity altogether or tell my software to ignore how hard a key is hit then this keyboard could do me good, i have already tried this with good results with fruity keys but it doesnt seem an option anywhere else. anyone be able to shed some light on this?
