Setting Up A Film Society

I'm looking to setup a film society in my local area. I ran such an organisation while I was in College so I know how to run it on a day to day basis but I'm not sure of how it should be setup.

What is required? It needs to be an organisation with its own bank account, so should it be registered as a company? Does it need a memorandum of articles or any other legal documents to ensure that its all above board?

    Help would be appreciated.

As far as I'm aware it doesn't if all you are doing is organising trips to the cinema, then going for a pint after. Lot's of clubs run this way.
However, if you are organising screenings yourself, there is a lot of legal mumbo jumbo to be sorted out. As most film companies will demand royalties if you are charging people to see their productions.
