Agreed, love Thomonds posts and his knowledge has now far surpassed mine at least (not that that's any great achievement!! :p), on more than one occasion I've found myself thinking "Fair play, wouldn't have a clue about that!".

Cheers for the nomination by the way Size=everything!! :)

Wow, I'm seriously flattered with two nominations. :D

If there is one thing worse than being talked about, is not being talked about. ;) Apologies to Oscar Wilde.

Bah was gunning for "Best Newcomer" or "Services to Connacht" :( I'd like to nominate myself for the "Lived with the Lions" award :D

But seriously as a newbie from March of this year really enjoyed a thoroughly outstanding year on and off the field. Quality forum with knowledgeable posters and intelligent debate (for the most part).

Special thanks to justind for his undercover work

Munster poster who should have been born in Dublin: Thomond2006

Rugbyfanatic gets the nominations for most disruptive, most likely to argue over the colour of a brown paper bag, most likely to be banned again, most biased poster and most likely to be arrested for stalking BOD.

I think Thomond2006 is Jonathan Sexton's Love Child. He actually put him into a World XV yesterday which was a bit tough on Dan Carter :D

Its a toss up between Rugby Fanatic & Size=Everything for the most disruptive .... etc.

    [Mod hat on]

OK folks, I'm prepared to run with this.

But, if anyone uses it as a chance to get in sly digs, then it will be shut down.

And so help me, if it turns into a RoG vs Sexton debate then I'll ask for the forum to be shut

    Hi folks,

I appreciate the shout out here, I happened across the thread the other day and realised that it's been almost six months since I've posted on boards.

I'll ramble off-topic for a moment, and give you an update. Obviously I was a fairly regular poster here in rugby forum and other fora around the place, which was partly due to the fact that I was unemployed for over three months. It was a fairly stressful time for both myself and the OH, but we got through it and I was lucky enough to get involved with a businessman here who was in the process of opening a new pub & restaurant. I got heavily involved in the preparation and finalising the opening of the business, and after a lot of hard work and a lot of red tape we opened our doors at the end of June. Since then he's encouraged me to become more and more involved in the overall project to the point where I'm managing the business on his behalf (he also has another existing restaurant which he runs). The hours have been very long, but I still thoroughly enjoy it and it is very rewarding both financially on a personal level to watch the business grow and see the fruits of our labour.

I know how difficult it can be in current times to hold down a job, and the three months being out of work were a humbling time and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. (I remember things were so tight that we were debating whether we could afford to go out and pay the $20 cover for the Wales v Ireland match:() Thankfully things have turned around for us, and we recently got engaged and are planning on taking the plunge next August. Now that the business has settled down and I'm not clocking 70 hours a week, I look forward to having a bit more time to browse here and continue to contribute to the forum.

A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all the members, and hopefully the next few weekends will be as successful for Irish rugby as 2009 was.

    Cheers,

    J

O.K. I haven't been around here very long so wasn't going to vote but a certain poster keeps badgering me to so here:

    Best Poster: Jackass

Most Biased Poster: Everyone's biased whether they mean to be or not, and some to varying degrees. I don't know.

Most likely to be banned in 2010: Don't know

Most Successful Sh*t Stirrer: Don't know

Services to Connacht Rugby : Don't know

    Best Newcomer: Don't know

Poster Who Always Defends The Indefensible: Amabokke

Poster Who Left too Early: Don't know

Thread of the Year: Kidney's Munster Bias

Rant of the Year: Don't know.

    Post of the Year:
    Wales v. Ireland Build Up
Wasn't around for it, but read it afterwards.

RTE coverage moment of the year: Probably the Grand Slam Glory program, if that counts.

Funniest Moment: More of a collection of Amabokke's repeated statements to the effect that the Boks would beat us badly.

so not much going on there but I said it at the start.

Unfortunately I haven't been up to speed on the form and selections over the past couple of months, so I wouldn't do it justice!

We're flying home on Tuesday for 9 days, and hoping to make it to the RDS for the St Stephen's Day derby, I'll churn out one before that round of matches.

Some other nominations with a focus on domestic Leinster Rugby...

Best rugby ethos club: Mullingar. Reffed these lads in a game and thought they were exceptionally well behaved bunch of lads.

Best rugby club for spreading the Rugby gospel: Would have to go to Tallaght / Emerald Warriors or Stillorgan. Tallaght was a Rugby free zone a while back and now the game is thriving there. The Warriors bring the game to loads of lads who have never played before and probably wouldn't play and of course Stillorgan get great feedback on how welcoming they are to new players.

Best internet rugby team: Has to be Stillorgan.

    Best marked out pitches: Wesley.

Best ref in Leinster (domestic): Tough one, so many to choose from :-)

What happened to that poll size=

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

In size's absence, I will post up a new thread with a poll tonight (about 9pm) so ye can vote on the Best Poster, Best Thread, Best Newcomer, Most Improved Poster and Best Post.

I can only do one poll per thread, so the poll will look a bit confusing. Unless there is a way to post a few seperate polls in one thread?

Anyway, feel free to make any last minute nominations for the categories mentioned above.

    Cheers,
