Ospreys and Ireland back Tommy Bowe faces a disciplinary hearing following an allegedly dangerous tackle in the 7-62 Heineken Cup win in Viadana.

The Italian side's wing Kaine Robertson was on the receiving end.

No date has yet been set for the hearing, Ospreys hosting Viadana in the return game in Swansea on Saturday.

British and Irish Lions star Bowe has been a vital presence for the Ospreys, his versatility especially valuable in an injury-ravaged season.

The Liberty Stadium side will be desperate to retain his services for the busy Christmas fixture list.

Backs Barry Davies, Shane Williams, Mike Phillips, Tom Isaacs and Lee Byrne are on the lengthy casualty list at the Welsh region.

    Any clips of the tackle?

    I'd love to see this....
    Bowe hearing set for tomorrow

Rugby: Tommy Bowe’s hearing for an alleged spear tackle on Viadana’s Kaine Robertson during the Ospreys’ 62-7 Heineken Cup win will be held in Dublin tomorrow. The Ireland international was cited yesterday and could miss a busy festive period if found guilty.

The British and Irish Lions star will appear before an independent disciplinary hearing at the ERC headquarters having been accused of making a dangerous and illegal challenge by match citing commissioner Iain Goodall (Scotland).

The independent judicial officer in the case will be Jeff Blackett.

Apparently because it didn't warrant a red card. I didn't see the tackle but if it didn't warrant a red card how come the citing commisioner decided that he may have a case to answer? Are citing commisioners refs, if yes, would this citing comissioner have issued a red card if he was one of the officials at the game?

    BTW - delighted for Tommie.

Dropping is actually part of the offence. Intent is what makes or breaks the citing.
