Restore PC Problem

We have this old compaq PC running on XP Pro bought around 2001 that started to go slow a few years ago and so was replaced and put in storage.

Now I want to use that PC again for some tasks such a label printing as were are getting rid of an older PC and don’t want to spend money on a new system so I was going to restore the compaq to factory settings.

I got the compaq PC restore CD that came with it and ran it fine, then went to run the operating system CD but it wouldn’t read the cd.

Now what are my options as the PC is now useless as it has been wiped. Can I get a replacement restore cd? Or will I have to get a new OS cd? Can xp still be got?

Bear I mind the reason for doing this in the first place was so we wouldn’t have to splash out.

Borrow an XP CD and use your own licence. This is perfectly acceptable.
