Recommend me a TV series!

Hi all,
Completely bored of the stuff I usually watch. Favourite shows would be Black Books, How Not to Live Your Life, Peep Show, Big Bang Theory - but not into the whole repetitive sketch stuff (Harry Enfield/Mitchell and Webb). Can anyone recommend me something to watch?

Flight of the Conchords is very funny, I'd recommend it.

Have you seen Shameless, Phoenix Nights, The Office (UK) and Extras? They're all excellent. Also have a look for Marion and Geoff on Youtube, I just started watching it the other day and it's brilliant.

Other shows I liked were Dexter Seasons 1 and 2 and Deadwood season 1. Also The Wire goes without saying.

I don't think The Wire is as good as they say. It's all hype IMO.

Alot of the Kool Kid shows on this forum are overhyped....but it's just soooooo cool to say you watch them, like....yer so cool to be watching Dexter or True Blood, like it makes you super cool and an intelligent person, 'cause yer cool and anyone who dosen't watch is a pleb.

No, watching any show airing on ABC Family, MTV or The CW (bar Supernatural obviously) makes you a pleb!

There's a reason these so-called "Kool Kid" shows are mentioned so often, they've more depth and substance in their opening titles than an entire series of 'The Hills' or other such muck!

Less of them big overimportant big budget American series... you all know them!

Watch The Inbetweeners, US and UK Office, Extras, IT Crowd and make sure you haven't missed/forgotten any episodes of Father Ted!

Sorry I should have explained. I think it's ok - it's definitely GOOD - but it's definitely not the "best thing every omg you have to see The Wire how have you not seen it wow"... Since it's hit mainstream the hype has overtaken it. Not the fault of the show.

Personally, I think it's a bit dragged out, a bit involved with itself, fairly unrewarding for the hard slog that it is. I'm not saying it should have car chases, or shoot outs, but... it just drags along a little too slowly for me.

I shouldn't be posting in this thread, I more or less gave up on TV about a year ago If I could recommend some of my favourites:
- Twin Peaks
- Spaced
- The Inbetweeners, definitely
- Oz
- Mock The Week (which is handy, seems to be on constantly, but its all on YouTube too)
- Freaks and Geeks

Big +1 for Flight of the Conchords also. Unfortunately there is only 2 seasons of it. However, I'd love to be in your shoes in being able to watch them all for the first time back to back.

californication is an excellent show, you have to be 17 to watch it though, it follows a washed up alcoholic writer, trying to get back with the woman he loved and had a kid with, and he just constantly ***** ups everything,

you might not have liked david ducovney in the past but by god he is excellent in this show, and the supporting cast is top, from his friend runkle and his wife, to his daughter, and nerly every woman he sleeps with has a bit of story in them,

some people are put off by the name and ducovney, but watch 5 episodes and i promise youll be hooked,

P.S, not trying to sound bad but i dunno if girls would like it,

if ya like a bit of fun id recommend Chuck, nice bit of fun, average guy gets goverment secrets downloaded int ohis head, and is assigned 2 handlers to protect him, they go on missions useing him as there intel machine, tis good fun,

lost if you havent watched it, takes bit of commiment but if you like it youll love it, it really is a love it or hate it show,

its finnished now but Jericho was a great show, season 1 was a normal full season, it got cancelled, but due to fan pressure it was bought back for a 7 episode second season, which finnished it better than the end of the first, yet still let it open for more, as unlikely as it is,
