Are there any HTPC installers in Ireland?

    I think http://www.mediacentre.ie used to sell HTPCs and they would also come to your house and set these up and install them. I may be wrong, but I don't think they are still in business and I'm wondering if there are any other companies currently offerring installation and setup in Ireland?

    I no longer have enough spare time to do installs and have a number of friends and colleagues that would be interested in getting a HTPC installed and setup to stream media around the home etc. so identifying a company that can offer this service for a reasonable price would be great.

    If anyone knows of a company or companies who do this kind of work, feel free to respond accordingly but please note carefully that this is not an opportunity for promotion or advertising of your own company or employer.

    Posts made on the HE forums solely for the purpose of promoting the interests of your company or employer are not welcome and will be deleted or snipped appropriately.

    If you have any concerns about this approach, please do not raise the issue on this thread, but feel free to contact me by PM.

    I think SteveJazzX or something like that who posts here works for a place like that.

    I know this as he mentioned it in a thread I started way back and I don't know him personally or the company.

    Thanks to The Ritz for clarifying the policy position on this.

    Bottom line seems to be it's ok for posters to say 'Company X do Y', though it's not ok for Company X do post saying 'we do Y...and we're great'.

    So if you're a poster with any info of companies/individuals that do HTPC installations, please post on the thread with info. If you are a company or individual that offers these services, please PM me. We can then discuss with The Ritz if it's ok to share that info on the thread.

    The Ritz - hopefully that's consistent with what you outlined, if not, please let us know.

    @FrankGrimes,

    We're all good with that.

    Just for the sake of clarifying this publicly, we've had a helpful exchange of PMs along the lines set out in the post above.

    If people want to contact FrankGrimes by PM in response to his thread here, that's completely fine, but it would be more use to other Boardies if comments were posted on the thread - I realise that forbidding companies self-promoting inevitably means that some companies may not get mentioned but I don't want to open a free-for-all for people to use the forums as free advertising - recommendations from genuine Boardies is a different thing, as I'm sure you'll understand.

    I'm grateful to FrankGrimes for contacting me by PM - I do not want to interfere unnecessarily with this thread and realise that it could be very helpful to other Boardies. If there is difficulty finding the necessary information under these restrictions, I will be happy to discuss again by PM and we'll see if we can find a different approach that will make it work.

    I would also be grateful if other posters would use PM to raise any issues about this policy and leave this thread clear for its intended purpose.

    Cheers,

    Rtiz.

    Thanks for bumping the thread Ritz. Doesn't sound like there's many companies in this line of work in Ireland though. Pity. I can understand luxury products like this not being in massive demand at a time like this, but when you think about the monthly savings that can be had by going down the Free To Air route, it does seem like there may be a gap in the market.

    I'll probably get someone to install a free to air satellite in my house in the spring (literally have zero free time to do it myself, normally would), so any tips on even a standard satellite fitter (i.e. not the media center side) are appreciated.

    I do.

    In meantime if anyone ever needs any info please feel free to pm. I have no problems passing on good contacts or helping with a set up.

    @FrankGrimes,

    Yip, it would seem that this is not an over-crowded market - not surprising considering the disparity between the cost of flatscreen tvs vs. the cost of a proper install which migh outweigh the cost of the tv.

    As for a FreeSat installation, hop over to the sat tv forum (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=55) for a list of satellite shops, you'll easily find someone to do an instal for you.

    @stevejazzx,

    Your post is promoting your employer (see post# 2) so it just got snipped, despite being the only reply... If you want to discuss now or in the future, please feel free to PM, noting in particular the next bit......

    @All,

    If you wish to get listed as an installer please PM me with an expression of interest. If there are sufficient replies, I'll open a restricted thread with a list of installers.

    Thanks,

    Ritz.

    Stickey now listed at top of forum - open to listing from Boardsies and from companies who supply/install HTPC/Media Centre gear.

    Thanks,

    Ritz.
