    Just wondering how are you able to differentiate and compare the different types of hops, aromas etc instead of just drinking it because it tastes good.

    I roughly know the theory but no one I know of claims it is has the predictive power of our theories about vision say. So afaik we understand even less about smell than we do about vision. Turin has a great book on this "The Secret of Scent" if you want a lend.
