I picked myself up a pair of ROHAN swoop shoes in TK Max today (€54), ive been a Hi-tec user for years with little complaint. Suckered in by a nice pair at a cheaper price! Mind you i rarely go beyond Bray head these days so they wont be overworked.

Rohan shoes, as good as the label claims?

Don't have any experience with that brand.
I've a lot of time for vibram soles - I'm wearing a pair of timberland that look quite similar in design to those shoes, with a vibram sole. The 'eVent' stuff is pretty good too.

But while its fine for light walking, or wearing round, I don't like to wear things of this off trail, problem with all these waterproof fabrics is that once they get wet, they take too long to dry. Looks good for a jaunt around bray head though!

Got a pair a year ago in TK Maxx but after a while of light use they started to fall apart literally however I sent them back to Rohan and they immediately replaced them.Very comfortable and practical footwear. Great service and such nice people. . Much nicer to deal with than Rab, from which I recently bought a Vapour Rise Smock which is less water repellent than a piece of kitchen roll but when I pointed out on their website it quotes a DWR coating they stated it was not waterproof. I had not expected it to be waterproof however it should have "turned a shower". Great smock but their website is totally misleading.

I bought a pair of these in TK Maxx for €50 on Monday, just did the Mourne 7 7s in them yesterday. I could have done with some more ankle support on the really rough stuff but they did the job.The waterproofing was fine.
I'd usually wear a pair of Meindl Burma but wanted something a bit lighter for when the weather isn't so bad, plus I'll be hiking in the German Alps next month so wanted a lighter shoe.
    Overall, well worth €50.
