Adult Caution Meeting

    I would like advise.

I am to be considered to receive an Adult Caution this Thursday with a local inspector. What format does this take? This sounds ironic, but I am a doctorate student who had a lapse of judgement in relation to walking out of a store without paying for some items. I am ashamed of myself and felt low since the incident.

I am very worried that because of a stupid mistake, I have destroyed my career before it has even started. There are mixed reports on this forum and internet about employers doing intense background checks. I fear not being able to work as a lecturer which I aim to do so in a few months. If I tell this to the inspector, who he be empathic towards me.

Any advise would be great :(

An adult caution is basically just an informal talk with the local inspector. You receive no conviction recorded against you and it wont show up on any background checks that any employers carry out.

As above. Nothing to worry about in regards your record.

You pop into his office, he outlines the offence, you admit it, sign the book.....dont do it again yada yada and your out the door.

However any other offence will result in prosecution from here on out.

Starting a thread with "I would like advice" is a bad idea in a forum that doesn't give advice.

Indeed, and I am going to start banning querists and advisers alike if we don't start paying heed to the forum charter. I am not pointing this at the poster of the text I have quoted.

    Ta ta.
