iPhone release on Vodafone?

Hey, I've been told in the Vodafone shops that this isn't out until after christmas but I'e heard from a friend that they know somebody who just got one from Vodafone. They got it for ~€250 @ ~€30PM. Is that possible? Maybe they're releasing it early to current customers..?
