    Sheamus, new WWE champ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,391 ✭✭✭D2D

Just looked at the results.:eek::eek: is all the emotions I have on it. New IC, TAG and WWE champs. Sheamus is the WWE Champion?!?!?! Holy ****.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,735 ✭✭✭✭Penn

DX are tag champs. With Kofi now almost main event status, and Sheamus the new WWE champ, my first thought was that this was done so DX can appear on Smackdown more and Kofi and Sheamus fill their spots. But I doubt it somehow. While DX might make the occasional appearance on Smackdown, I think they'll still be on Raw most of the time.

McIntyre the new IC champ. Good stuff I reckon. Hopefully him and Morrison go at it for another month or 2. Then I'd like to see him fued with Matt Hardy.

I thought the ending to the Batista match was absolutely rediculous tbh. How many times have people won matches by cheating. Stupid to reverse the decision.

Delighed for Sheamus as he has worked his balls off over the years to get here.

    Brilliant for Drew as well.

Delighted to see Seamus win the title but does anyone think that the finished didn't go as planned? When Seamus landed on the outside after putting Cena through the table in the ring, there was a table on its side next to him outside the ring. I can't help but think the match was meant to end in a draw.

I can't help but think the match was meant to end in a draw.

While I haven't seen it myself, I'd say no. Firstly, There would have been a few ways that they could get out of it and still have Cena win, such as saying that Cena fell through the table, but Sheamus didn't put him through it. Match continues, Cena wins improvised finish.

Secondly, its doubtful that Sheamus would have been so careless as to not even attempt to go through the other table. His first WWE title match, and he botches the finish and wins even though he wasn't supposed to? That'd be too great a risk to his push. If the other table was outside the ring, theoretically, he should have fallen first, then Cena, so they fall through their tables at the same time.

Thirdly, the WWE.com article clearly states that Sheamus won. If it was a botched finish, they'd say something on the site about how referees are currently reviewing the tapes, or Cena is challenging the decision or something.

But like I said, I haven't seen the finish myself.

Good point SilverFox, but I think it was planned like that. He hit the apron on purpose.

Just watched it there, seems I was wrong on one point. I didn't know Sheamus fell from the turnbuckle. I re-read your original post and you did say he fell to the outside, so my mistake, I read it wrong.

That being said, the table on the outside was on its side. No way was he meant to fall through that. I know these guys take big risks, but a table on its side? That could seriously break a guys back, neck, whatever. if the table was set up, then maybe he had messed up the ending. But a table on it's side just seems like too unnecessary a risk for a match ending which ends in a draw.

Unless, they forgot to set the table up, and Sheamus, seeing the table before falling, had to stop himself from landing on it (for obvious reasons). That being said, there still would have been ways around it to still give Cena the win. So who knows?

    Tribute to the Troops
It'll be interesting to see how Cena has the title at the tribute to the Troops. Perhaps this is an indication that Cena was supposed to leave TLC with the title. Perhaps they'll have Cena win the title back tonight on Raw in order to keep continuity

at the end of the day if that wasnt the finish, they could have easily had McMahon come out and say Cena fell through the table by himself.. and restarted the match..

Feel sorry for Ziggler, McIntyre goes and wins the IC Title on his 1st attempt.

Exactly. Wouldn't even have had to be McMahon. Send another ref down to the ring to tell him. Even though the Batista/Taker match ended kinda the same way, if they didn't want Sheamus to walk out with the title, he wouldn't have.

Speaking of Taker and Batista, disappointed Batista didn't win. After his pretty good heel turn, he should have beaten Taker. Now that his fued with Rey might be finished, and since he didn't beat Taker, what else is there for him to do?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 15,239 Mod ✭✭✭✭FutureGuy

"Howya fella, Sheamus is my name. I'm the WWE champion"

    Brilliant :D

Honestly, the first thing I would love to see is the return of the "Undisputed-style" WWE title, the current one looks silly on a monster heel tbh.

IMO Taker won that match so that he could lose the title to Batista at the Rumble. If Taker is to be in a non title main event at Mania, which seems to be the case with all the Taker versus Cena rumours, then his mania program will start after the rumble. He would have looked very weak going into that program if he lost to Batista last night, and then be put in a rematch at the Rumble to lose again, just for the sake of having him on the Rumble PPV Card and keeping the title off him.

Good point. My problem would be that now Batista looks weak. And for someone just after turning monster heel, thats not a good thing. I guess they just had to go one way or t'other. Someone had to lose

Did ye read michael.etc... review of TLC??

    Link: http://www.ifight365.com/2009/12/wwe-tlc-tables-ladders-and-chairs-ppv-recap-shock-title-win-ecw-match-steals-show-dx-and-more/

    It's a really good read.

What happend with Jericho and a table bump at the end of the TLC match?? I read about it somewhere & can't understand what it's about.

Yeah, I know it's not real, obviously. Just didn't expect Sheamus to win the title on his first ever attempt.

Jericho was up on Show's shoulders, and was knocked off, over the top rope- he was meant to go through a table set-up on the outside, but I guess coming off a person is a little more difficult than a ladder, and he came up short. Looked a bit nasty, he appeared to land knees first on the floor, with his face catching the edge of the table.

    Pretty accurate account Michael.

That has to be up there with the worse crowds, in atmosphere terms, I have seen in a long while.

Sheamus winning the WWE title is an amazing achievement.

I am delighted for him. Growing up I wanted to be WWE champion as much as I wanted to play for Manchester United or win the World Cup with The Republic.

Well done Big Fella you have achieved a dream so few have the ability or dedication to achieve.

Congrats to Sheamus, I don't think it was a botch, what happened after the fight suggested everything went to plan i.e. genuine elation from Sheamus, rather than a "**** I won when I wasn't suppose to" look. Also, with Cena taking the piece of wood as "motivation" it was definitely not meant to be a draw.

On a sidenote, I think this storyline between McCool and James is slightly ridiculous. It's just going to mean more X-Pac heat for McCool. I ain't complaining though, I hate the **** anyway. ;)

Not a fan of what they're doing to Mickie, but McCool was by far the better of the two in that match. Mickie botched at least four times.

I reckon she could well be the next future endeavoured superstar.

F*cuking awsome!!!!!!!!!! Just watched it, recorded it last night. Delighted for SoS....Not a great match, some nice big hits in it, but finish was poor. would loved to have seen him reverse the suplex Cena was attempting and put him belly first though the table.

But screw it....Thats a massive shift in in the WWE. Two rookies winning titles on the same night. Hope they push Seamus big time now and he goes through the roster like a dodgy curry!! :D:D

    Ps

They might turn Cena heel after this......f*ck all reaction to him except for the kids...and at one point I believe I heard "Lets Go Seamus" chants....

    As Flair might say..Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I was actually really bored during TLC. The only exciting match was the opener and that was hurt badly by the belt being too low, they spent too much time grabbing at something which Christian clearly proved was very easy to take down. Morrison/McIntyre had it's moments and the Tables match was pretty slow with the tables being a large hindrance.

Batista/'Taker was another slow, plodding match with a terrible finish and Kofi/Orton was decent if a little disappointing and didn't show me that Kofi is a future main eventer that can carry big matches. The main event had a few decent spots aswell but overall was average.

Was it??? With this being an Irish forum, SOS's victory is huge news but I've heard little else about the PPV on here, tbh.

    sorry for the OT post.

but you're banned? you'd be loving it in there right now.

Sheamus to be given the freedom of Dublin!

even though the championship, imo, has been given to him far too quick.

Just a week. Reading the board, I choose a bad week.:pac:

Though I'm still awaiting an answer as to how a United fan saying Rooney is a disgrace for diving could be seen as an attempt to wind up Liverpool fans.:pac:

But anyway its Christmas and an Irishman is the champion of the world so lest not cry over spilt milk.:pac:

the ppv was crap but seeing an irish guy becoming first european champ in wwe=priceless. yes its predetermined but its cool. that belt has great history to which sheamus can state his clame as first european ton win it.

Depressingly I went out both Monday and Tuesday and went through all the regular Irish papers and didn't find a damn thing. Wrestling may not be a legitimate sport but this accomplishment has not been done many times by a non-North American, and not done by a European since Andre the Giant!:mad::mad:

The LAW (Canadian Wrestling Radio Show) did a great review of the PPV, I actually rang to talk about Sheamus I was so happy! :Dhttp://www.thefightnetwork.com/downloads

Em, WWR will talk about it on Friday but their show is all over the place. On the other hand, if you text in, he'll stop whatever he's saying and read out the text :D

good point if we're all honest.love to see him on the late late show sometime if he's still champ prob not though with their hectic schedules or maybe next time they do a raw tour and goes to the uk he might pop over and say "top o de mornin" to us if vince lets him.

He is not the first European champion in WWE. Kane and Andre the Giant were European.

Poor PPV, The opener was good except for that part in the middle with Shelton holding on to the title and Christian not knowing what to do. It looked very awkward. I also thought the main event was very good.
