Well going along with the cycling thread that got posted today, can you swim?

I'll admit I can't. I've started lessons a few times but never continued them to reach any sort of standard.
But I'm booked on a course next month and determined to succeed.

What about you? Can you swim?

Same as the cycle thread- I can, but haven't in years.

Haven't swam in a pool in probably 6 years; I'm just a worrier!

Yes (and I can cycle too, but preferably not at the same time)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 639 ✭✭✭Seillejet

I can. Feel very sorry for my wife when we are away as she cant. Some git of an instructor threw an aeroboard at her when she was young because he was annoyed she was not picking up his instruction.

I also can't swim. I just didn't want to admit them both in the one thread :o

Who the f*ck would swim in Ireland outside of a swimming pool?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,047 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

Yep, was damn good at it too back in the day. Secondary school meant I couldn't continue with the swimming club and then college means I have little to no time at all. Got to the pool a good few times over the summer...

It's something everyone should know how to do from a young age, it's like riding a bike in the sense that once you know how to, you can never forget how to.

Now that I've searched you are correct. A similar thread was posted last month

    But hey:
    1. Almost every topic in AH has been posted before
    2. If that's your only contribution then go and start the most original and never seen before thread that has ever existed on boards

I don't think there's been a "Can you levitate?" thread. You could have started there and made a name for yourself, just before it got got locked after post no. 3.

Love swimming, I love water sports and swimming. I learnt one day on holidays. Just went into the deep end on day and did a doggy paddle. Then I got better from going to lessons at primary school, was great, a half day every Wednesday. :D

Nope. Can't swim. I assume, when the time comes, I'll just be able to walk on water.

    Practised at all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,928 ✭✭✭✭rainbow kirby

I can swim, but I'm quite slow. I'd usually swim about 1,500m in 45 minutes if I go to my local pool.

I stand up in the bath regularly without drowning. Figure I'm god to go.
